Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Pieceful mobile application ("the App", "we", "us"), a picture puzzle game for Android and iOS developed by Ibrahim Hassan, handles information when you use it. The App works without an account or sign-up, and we do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
The App has no user accounts. We do not collect, store or have access to your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location, and we do not operate a server that stores personal data about you.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
To keep your progress and settings, the App stores the following only on your device:
- Which puzzles you have solved
- Your settings (sound, music and haptics)
- The list of available puzzles and the pictures for your current set of puzzles, so you can play offline (each picture is deleted once its puzzle is solved)
- Your remaining bought hints and whether you own Pieceful Pro
- Whether you have seen the tutorial, and when the App last asked you to rate it
- Your ad consent choice, where one is required (see section 4)
This data is not sent to us. It is deleted when you uninstall the App.
3. Puzzle Pictures and Internet Access
The App downloads its puzzle pictures over the internet:
- Normally from our own puzzle catalog, stored with Cloudflare (R2).
- If our catalog is unavailable or you have solved every puzzle in it, from Openverse (photos from Wikimedia Commons under open licenses) and Lorem Picsum (photos from Unsplash). The App searches Openverse with general picture topics such as "forest" or "lake"; nothing about you is included in these searches.
- A small set of pictures is included in the App itself.
To check that your connection works before downloading, the App briefly contacts standard connectivity-check addresses run by Google, Cloudflare and Apple. Like any web request, these requests include your IP address and basic technical details (such as the device's network request headers). The App does not send any personal identifier with them, and we do not use them to identify you.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App is free and supported by ads served through Google AdMob:
- A banner ad at the bottom of some screens
- An occasional full-screen (interstitial) ad between levels
- An optional rewarded video ad you can choose to watch to get a hint
To serve and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect information such as your advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA), IP address, approximate (non-precise) location, device information and how you interact with ads. Google processes this data under its own privacy practices; we do not receive or store it ourselves.
Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or another region where consent is required, the App asks for your choice through Google's consent message before any ad is requested. You can review or change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy Choices.
Tracking on iOS. After you finish your first puzzle, the App asks for permission to track through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Ads are shown either way; your advertising identifier is only used if you allow it, and you can change your answer in your device's settings.
Players who buy Pieceful Pro are not shown ads.
More information and controls:
- How Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services
- Google's Privacy Policy
- On Android: Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads), to reset or delete your advertising ID
- On iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
5. Usage Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand, in aggregate, how the App is used so we can improve it, for example which levels players find too hard or where they stop playing. It records events such as a puzzle being started, finished or left, a hint being used, the tutorial being finished or skipped, and a purchase being started or completed, together with details such as the level, the number of moves and the time taken.
Google Analytics also collects technical information automatically: an app instance identifier, device model, operating system and app version, language, approximate location (country or region, derived from your IP address) and session information. Where you allow it, it may also use your device's advertising identifier. This data is not linked to your name or any account, since the App has neither. Where consent is required, your choice in Google's consent message also applies to analytics.
The App also uses Firebase Remote Config to receive game settings (for example how often an ad is shown or how difficulty grows); it uses the same app instance identifier. Learn more: Firebase and Privacy and how Google uses data.
6. Crash Reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)
The App uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to receive a report when the App crashes or hits an unexpected error, so we can fix the problem. A crash report contains technical information such as the device model, operating system version, app version, an installation identifier and details of the error. It is not linked to your name or any account.
7. Push Notifications (OneSignal)
The App may send optional push notifications through OneSignal. This currently applies to iOS. If you allow notifications when asked, OneSignal assigns your device a push token and processes basic device information (operating system, device model, app version and general region) needed to deliver notifications. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device's notification settings. Learn more: OneSignal's Privacy Policy.
8. In-App Purchases (RevenueCat)
Where available, the App offers optional purchases: Pieceful Pro (a one-time purchase that removes ads and gives unlimited hints) and hint packs. Purchases are made and billed entirely through Apple's App Store or Google Play; we never see or store your payment details. To confirm and keep track of your purchases, we use RevenueCat, which receives your purchase receipts and an anonymous identifier generated by the App. Learn more: RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
9. Ratings
Occasionally, after you finish a puzzle with three stars, the App may ask Google Play or the App Store to show their rating prompt. The prompt and any rating you give are handled by Google or Apple; we do not receive your rating through the App.
10. Children's Privacy
Pieceful is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App's advertising is configured for a general audience. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App or a third-party service it uses, please contact us at the address below and we will help remove it.
11. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA and Similar Laws)
Because we do not store personal data on our own servers, most requests to access, correct, delete or opt out of the sale or sharing of data concern the identifiers processed by Google (AdMob, Analytics, Crashlytics), OneSignal and RevenueCat. You can exercise these choices through Settings → Privacy Choices in the App, your device's ad, tracking and notification settings, or Google's My Ad Center. Uninstalling the App deletes everything it stored on your device. If you believe we hold personal information about you, contact us and we will help.
12. Data Retention and Security
Game data stays on your device until you uninstall the App. Analytics data is kept for a limited time (at most 14 months) as set in Google Analytics. Data processed by Google, Firebase, OneSignal and RevenueCat is kept and protected according to each provider's own policies. All of the App's network requests use encrypted connections (HTTPS).
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
